Did you know that in the 1930’s the area behind Wagner Mall in Bend Oregon was an apple orchard? The orchard was an agricultural experiment for Central Oregon. Unfortunately the orchard eventually failed, but the legacy lives on and now this area is called the Orchard District. The original orchard farmhouse is still standing and is currently in use as a residence. The Orchard District is flanked by US-20 and Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint, and the Orchard District Neighborhood Association was the 3rd neighborhood association in Bend.
