The History Behind Oregon’s First-Class European Automotive Facility
The Foundation: 1995–1999
Matrix Integrated didn’t begin in a corporate office. We started in 1995 as Matrix Engineering, a part-time venture in a 2,500sf Tigard workshop focused on Volkswagen club-level race car construction. What began with one lift and a focus on roll cage fabrication evolved into a full-time commitment by late 1999, laying the groundwork for the meticulous, build-level attention to detail we apply to every vehicle today.
Technical Mastery: The Performance Era
By the early 2000s, our focus expanded into the deep technical nuances of Volkswagen and Audi performance. We became the first company to perfect the custom 3.1L big-bore VR6 engine, providing components and consulting to clients as far away as Germany and Australia. This era was defined by gaining experience using our in-house chassis dyno to support performance upgrades and superior tuning, eventually drawing project vehicles from across the United States.
Evolution: The Independent Advantage
As our reputation grew, so did our client base. We realized that while we were known for high-stakes racing builds, our loyal neighbors also trusted us for their routine maintenance and repairs. In 2003, we transitioned from Matrix Engineering to Matrix Integrated Inc. This change signaled our evolution into a full-service independent workshop, offering a professional alternative to the dealership for Audi, BMW, Mercedes, MINI, and Porsche owners.
Regional Growth: Portland & Bend
Between 2005 and 2016, our Portland footprint grew from a 22,500sf headquarters with 11 service lifts to a second Westside workshop, ensuring accessible care for clients in Beaverton and Hillsboro. In 2019, we expanded into Central Oregon with our Bend location, which finally led us to officially integrate specialized service and performance upfitting for Land Rover and Sprinter brands.
Trackside Innovation & Professional Partnerships
Our team’s technical proficiency led to instrumental partnerships with industry leaders like GIAC, STaSIS Engineering, and Champion Racing. Whether we were performing midnight diagnostic sessions for an RS6 race car at PIR or managing data acquisition for World Challenge touring teams, these high-pressure environments refined our ability to solve complex mechanical problems with calm, expert precision.
The Standard Today
We look back over the past two decades and see a consistent thread: a dedication to the craft. Today, we remain a family-owned, independent workshop, providing Portland and Bend with specialist European vehicle services and knowledge.

We’re proud of the long-term relationships we’ve built with European car owners across Oregon. Their words say more about our standards than we ever could.
I have been taking my Porsche Cayenne to Matrix for regular maintenance for the past 3 years. I’m impressed with their service and especially with my most recent customer care service. They noticed that my DEF fluid pump seemed to be leaking. Instead of recommending that they fix it for me, they shared that it was most likely still under recall warranty and to call our local Porsche service company to get it fixed under the warranty program instead. This saved me thousands of dollars.

I had a request for an in person interview 300 miles away when an EPC and Check Engine light kicked on in my GTI, on my birthday of all days. If you don’t know, that’s a big problem in a GTI. To make matters worse I was preparing to move. The team at Matrix not only checked my car right away, but let me leave it with them to see if they could squeeze it in. They not only got it done a week before their next appointment opening, they only charged me for parts and one hour of labor. No rush fee. No extras. I’ve never seen someone step up and go above and beyond like that. Seriously if I want to do anything major I may drive the 300 miles to come back as I know it’ll get done fast, fair, and right. They also have a really cute loaner car up front 😎

Had some upgrades for my Sprinter done here. Worked with Jeremy, he’s one of the owners and soooo knowledgeable and passionate about Sprinters and European cars. He’s the real deal! I’m from out-of-town, they picked me up and dropped me off at my hotel while the work was being done. They were 100% on their predicted timeline. I am very happy with everything they did. Looking forward to my next project. I had flares installed above my wheels, blacked out Mercedes emblem (so cool!), Sherpa rack system and ladder installed plus two large expedition boxes.

Came in with a blown turbo on my beloved 2013 335is – Christian and crew worked with me to a get a reasonable price with full warranty and replaced the turbos. Car is running like new. Would highly recommend

I’ve been bringing my Audi S4 to Matrix for years, and it’s truly been a pleasure every time. The team is always kind, friendly, and professional. They do exactly what they say they’re going to do, and they do it quickly — no surprises, no runaround.
The prices are always fair, and the quality of the work is top-notch. I also really appreciate how convenient and well-kept their workspace is — it just makes the whole experience easy and comfortable. It’s rare to find a shop that you actually enjoy visiting, but Matrix has earned that trust. Highly recommend!

Prompt service and fair price. I’ve taken my Land Rover here at least years in a row for maintenance & service and always been pleased with them. Highly recommend to others.

Excellent job fixing my Porsche Macan S. Great communication! Assisted with my extended warranty company, and exceeded expectations overall. I will be back … but hopefully not for awhile!
